A POTTED HISTORY, skip this bit unless you have nothing much to do!

Geoff  was born in Halifax, West Yorkshire, that was in 1945, far too long ago to remember!  It was always thought he was interested in drawing as his young childhood was spent drawing in books, on walls in fact on anything that stayed still long enough. He remebers getting into lots of trouble as the books were from the library and the walls were in the house and papered!

Having survived to young adulthood he headed off to Art College in Bradford and met similar souls obsessed with paint and  image making.  It was here that the delights of ceramic art opened up. Geoff is still making some pottery today which can be seen in the 'Crafts of Angus' shop at the House of Dun by Montrose. David Hockney was a student at Bradord but he had left for pastures new by the time Geoff Arrived.

It was thought that a good, honest job would be in order so after 2 years at Bradford Geoff went to South Yorkshire, foreign parts these were, to study at Bretton Hall to be an art teacher.

An interesting period followed; marraige, teaching, emigrating to Australia to teach , arrival of our daughter. After 4 years in Aussie a return to the UK and a good career in education,  37 years in fact "at the chalk face" . All this time Geoff sketched and painted, selling some, filling cupboards with others. Serious selling started in 1990 when these cupboards were overflowing.  Geoff became a regular exhibtor at a number of Yorkshire galleries. His works are now in homes across the UK and in many other countries.

SCOTLAND BECKONED on Geoff's early retirement. Geoff and his wife Margaret had enjoyed holidays in Scotland for years so it was an easy decision to make about emigrating once again this time to Angus. It is also a return for Margaret to the land of her birth.  That was in 2007, and also marked the change to full time artist .  A quick look through the galleries will show the range of works now inspired by Scotland
